All About Adornments

-----------------------------------------------

There are lots of different kinds of adornments out there like headbands, brooches, necklaces, pins, scarves, etc.
These small accessories can be used to add some extra glamour to an otherwise plain outfit or scarf style.

Let's see how:

BROOCHES
If you pronounce this word and it sounds like "roaches", then you know what I'm talking about.
Brooches are super fabulous because they are tiny but can make a strong statement.
Brooches can be very beautiful placed in areas that you would otherwise use a regular pin and/or take the ensemble to the next level.

Try them on the shoulder area with a dress or shawl like Michelle Obama, on a scarf/hijab on your head on the side like this hijabi (not the heavy makeup just the brooch), in the middle of the bust area on a low cut top etc.

EARRINGS
Yup, earrings.
You'd be very surprised how much a pair of earrings can change an otherwise simple outfit. You don't have to wear huge ones either. Even a simple pair of pearl studs will do the trick.
If you're creative like Shaheen, try putting them in certain places on your clothes where they will act like a brooch or pin and compliment the rest of the ensemble.

Tikkas, which are not exactly earrings but can look like them, are a nice gorgeous addition to a fancy ensemble. Use a small pin or small hair clip to clip it to your hair or scarf.

NECKLACES
There are so many different kinds of necklaces out there.
You can choose a short statement necklace, long statement necklace or use both layered on top of each other.
Plus, you can place one on top of your scarf/hijab the way Shaheen does here tiara-style or layer some like Ramona of the Real Housewives of New York's necklaces

SCARVES
Here we go again with the scarves, I know.
But seriously, a statement scarf can add major glamage as an adornment (yes, it is a now a word) to an outfit when placed in certain areas like on the head or around the neck. Rock it on your head like Alicia Keys and J-Lo do here.
Look HERE and HERE on the EBC blog to be reminded of ways to wear your scarves on your head or body.

HEADBANDS
Headbands are big nowadays.
You can rock a ribbon or headband that has bows, studs,or are made out of cool materials like satin, denim etc for many different looks.
Try a headband in your hair or on top of a scarf/hijab for a fun, cute look like Blair from Gossip Girl or this hijabi.

PINS
They can be very scary, but once you get the hang of putting them on without poking yourself in the head or other uncomfortable places, they are amazing.
There are many many different styles: big, small, clip pins, straight/stick pins etc.
Place a gorgeous pin or two or many in your hair or on your scarf/hijab like this style from Reflections of Iman.

Tip: Weave the pin through the fabric instead of sticking directly into the fabric to avoid sticking yourself or putting holes in the fabric.
